A river, the Douro, is the epicentre and backbone of the region. It’s actually the oldest DOC in the world. The terraces are cut into the steep Schistous slopes. One can feel the landscape transformed by man where the vines feed on the blood of the stone. Here the Douro wines are born, among the stones, rock roses, thyme flowers and rosemary.
